Stories and Highlights
There's always something to celebrate at our school! From exciting events to proud moments and everyday wins, here are some of our highlights.
A Year at Our School
Business Week
Our Commerce students build a business as a school project empowering them develop real-world skills beyond the classroom.
They learn to think creatively, solve problems, manage money, and work in teams—skills that are essential for any career. It also builds confidence and resilience as they navigate challenges and take ownership of their ideas. It sparks entrepreneurial passion, helping students discover talents and interests they might not have explored otherwise.
Camps
Our school camp offers students a valuable opportunity to grow beyond the classroom. It helps them build independence, develop teamwork skills, and strengthen friendships through shared experiences. Being in nature encourages curiosity and resilience, while activities like hiking or group challenges boost confidence and problem-solving abilities. Most importantly, camp creates lasting memories and teaches students how to adapt, communicate, and thrive in new environments.
Creative and Performing Arts Performances
At MHS our students can play a musical instrument and participate in performances. This gives our students a wealth of benefits that extend beyond the performance itself. It enhances cognitive skills like memory, concentration, and problem-solving, while also fostering discipline and perseverance through regular practice. Performing in front of others builds confidence and encourages teamwork, especially in ensemble settings where collaboration is key. These experiences also nurture emotional expression and creativity, helping students develop a deeper sense of self and empathy. Altogether, CAPA enriches academic, social, and personal growth in powerful and lasting ways.
Knockouts
As well as house and grade sport our students compete in knockout sports. Participating in knockout sports helps students build resilience, sharpen focus under pressure, and develop teamwork and strategic thinking. The competitive format encourages personal growth and teaches valuable lessons in handling both victory and defeat gracefully.
Community Connections
Involving Year 7 students in presenting their classwork at Menai High School fosters confidence, communication skills, and a sense of pride in their learning. It encourages students to reflect on their progress and take ownership of their education. For parents, it offers valuable insight into their child’s school experience, strengthens the home-school connection, and celebrates student achievements in a meaningful way.
