The Science Faculty at Menai High School is responsible for the teaching of all Science subjects as well as Agriculture, Primary Industries and Marine Studies.
Our subjects
- Junior 7-10 : science
- Year 8 electives: forensics, robotics & surfboards to seaweed
- Years 9 - 10 electives: agriculture and marine & aquaculture technologies
- Years 11 – 12: biology, chemistry, physics, primary industries, investigating science, science extension

Menai High School has consistently received results placing students well above state average across all science areas. in 2015 students achieving in the highest band (band 6) was double the State average.
Higher School Certificate
Students in biology, chemistry and physics are offered extra, intensive tutorial sessions along with an ongoing and detailed revision schedule. Recent results have seen each cohort achieve at and above state average in all 3 courses. Students who sit the VET subject primary industries have obtained outstanding results recently, achieving 10% above state average.
ICAS science
Each year our junior enrichment students compete in the International Competition and Assessment for Schools (ICAS) program run by the University of NSW. Each year our students are rewarded with credit, distinction and high distinctions, sometimes placing them in the top 1% of student entries.
