The dance ensembles are designed for students demonstrating enthusiasm and experience in dance. All students are encouraged to audition for the highly competitive positions and these are filled at the start of each year.
The various dance ensembles aim to nurture and develop the talent of students who pursue dance in stage 5 and stage 6.
Students are provided opportunities throughout the year to perform at the school and in the wider school community, including the Sutherland Dance Festival held at (name of venue) and theĀ Menai showcase.
Menai High has four extra-curricular dance ensembles and rehearsals occur before school and during lunch:
All dance ensembles are chosen through audition.
Comprising of junior students in Years 7 & 8. They rehearse once a week before school at 8am.
This group has performance opportunities at:
Comprising of junior students in Years 7 & 8 with advanced technical ability. They rehearse once a week before school at 8am.
This group has performance opportunities at:
Sport dance ensemble
Comprising of students in Year 7 to Year 10. They rehearse once a week during Sport time at school
This group has performance opportunities at:
Comprising of talented students in Year 9 to Year 12 who are of an advanced technical ability. This group rehearse once a week at 8am before school.

The collaborative dance program is a two-day workshop in which talented year 9 dance students and year 6 students develop and refine their performance skills. Expert Dance teachers lead students to learn choreography to perform at the Creative and Performing Arts Showcase.
In addition to the diverse performance opportunities provided, students undertake excursions to the Sydney Dance Company for students to view productions and undertake workshops.
